The open exchange of ideas and the freedom of thought and expression are fundamental to the goals of SBRC. This calls for an environment that recognizes the inherent value of each individual and each group, promotes dignity, understanding, and mutual respect, and embraces diversity. For these reasons, SBRC is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for all attendees and in its official communication channels, including social media. The goal is for every attendee to feel welcome, included, respected, and safe. There is zero tolerance for hostile or unwanted behavior or speech that intimidates, creates discomfort, or interferes with anyone's participation in the event.
Unacceptable behaviors include: abusive or degrading language, prolonged interruption of a lecture, discussion, or other activity, discrimination, deliberate intimidation, harassment, biased video or image recording, inappropriate physical contact, sexual images, or unwanted sexual attention.
Harassment includes: derogatory comments or actions related to race, color, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, marital status, religion, nationality, disability, pregnancy, medical conditions, or any other protected by Brazilian law.
Should any individual witness or be a victim of unacceptable behavior or harassment, it must be reported to a member of the SBRC 2025 Organizing Committee or event security. Responses such as claiming the individual was 'joking' or the behavior was 'just a joke' will not be accepted. Individuals who violate these standards may be subject to punishment or exclusion from the symposium without any form of refund or compensation at the discretion of the SBRC 2025 General Chairs.
