Presentation and Goals

The SBRC Tools Showcase is a forum for developers and researchers interested in the architecture, implementation, and practical evaluation of systems and tools that contribute to advancing knowledge in computer networks and distributed systems. With a more practical purpose, the Tool Show emphasizes the demonstration of systems and tools, the experience of their development, issues of implementation and use, and also the perspectives created by them.

The 2025 edition of the Tools Showcase will be held in Natal-RN as part of the activities of the 43rd Brazilian Symposium on Computer Networks and Distributed Systems (SBRC 2025).

Topics of Interest

The topics of interest for the SBRC 2025 Tool Fair are the same as those in the Main Track of the event, as outlined in the Call for Papers.

Instructions for Authors

Tools must be presented in a paper that must be submitted exclusively through the JEMS3 system. Papers may be written in Portuguese or English and must be submitted in PDF format only. Each paper is limited to 8 pages of content, including abstract, text, figures, tables, diagrams, and other textual elements, with up to 4 additional pages allowed for references and appendices. All submitted papers must follow the SBC Article Publication Template and comply with the SBC Code of Conduct for Authors in Publications.

The article must include the following information:

  • Description and motivation of the problem addressed by the tool;
  • Solution architecture and description of key functionalities;
  • URL where the tool is available, preferably using GitHub (the source code with a license must be present in this URL, not just the binary);
  • URL for manuals and tool documentation (a complementary document describing installation, execution, and reproduction of the main claims presented in the paper will be required);
  • Description of requirements and planning for SBRC, specifying necessary equipment.

Additionally, the tool’s main documentation (e.g., README.md on GitHub) must include execution requirements, installation steps, a minimal execution example, as well as other examples of tool functionalities.

For complex tools and/or environments, the use of Dockerㅤㅤㅤㅤ is recommended. Authors are encouraged to provide a Dockerfile and/or a YAML file for docker-compose to simplify dependency installation and tool execution.

The requested information, as well as the actual existence of the indicated URLs, is essential for the evaluation of submissions.

Tool Requirements

The Tools Showcase covers experimental results and functional systems/tools available for use. Although work in progress is accepted, it must be possible for the work to be demonstrated and made available at a URL, along with its documentation, at the time of submission of the article.

All accepted tools must be demonstrated at stands and also presented in the conventional SBRC technical session format.

The artifact will be evaluated by a specific committee, which may award up to four badges:

  1. Available Artifacts (SeloD),
  2. Functional Artifacts (SeloF),
  3. Sustainable Artifacts (SeloS), and
  4. Reproducible Experiments (SeloR).

Evaluation and awards

All accepted works will be submitted to a specific technical committee to assess the quality of the artifacts, including aspects such as: availability, functionality, reproducibility and sustainability. Only those works that have received a positive evaluation in at least two aspects of the artifact will compete for the prizes for the best works of the Tools Exhibition.

The overall evaluation process will consider the quality, relevance, and innovation of the practical results, their documentation, the submitted article, the evaluation of artifacts, the attribution of artifact seals, and the proposed demonstration for the SBRC 2025 Tool Show. Among the accepted tools, a specific committee will choose the three best.
